The Awesome Scenic Adventure – Safe White Water Fun for All Season: 1st October to 30th April Duration: Full Day (3 1/2 hour to 4 hours on the river) Families love rafting the Scenic section of the Rangitikei River, downstream from River Valley Lodge. Why? They had looked for somewhere for their family to have their first river rafting experience. With over 30 Grade 2 (easy) rapids, a side hike to a spectacular waterfall (weather dependent), the 13 km scenic section of the Rangitikei River downstream from River Valley Lodge was just what they were looking for. They wanted a trip that was safe, scenic, interesting, and FUN! Your family could experience this day out on the river also. This trip can also be run as a gentle float trip with oared rafts, especially suitable for older less active participants. River Valley has grown to be what it is today through the passion of initially Nicola's parents, Brian and Robin, and since 1986, Brian Megaw and Nicola. Being away from the main tourist centres, we have tended to develop systems and ways of doing things that are often unique to us. This approach is quite holistic, whether it be Natural Horse Training at the Stables, growing our own vegetables for the Lodge kitchen, having an extended family relationship within the staff, or doing practical things for the natural environment.From the very beginning our focus has been on delivering a quality, fun experience to our guests, maintaining good relationships with our local community, and operating with a minimum footprint in our natural environment.
