Rates: Individual Courses • ASA 101 Basic Keelboat - 3 Days/2 Nights or 4 Days/3 Nights: $750 per student or $850 per student • ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising - 3 Days/2 Nights: $850 per student • ASA 104 Bareboat Cruising - 4 Days/3 Nights: $1200 per student ASA Challenge - 1 Day Course • ASA 101 or 103 Course Challenge: $275 per 1 student Non Certification Courses • Non-Certification Lesson (7 hours): $400 includes 2 students, $35 each additional • Introduction to Sailing (5 hours): $360 includes 2 students, $35 each additional • Student/Instructor Practice (7 hours): $400 includes 2 students, $35 each additional Private lessons are available for an additional $300 per course. What You Can Expect: We offer Live-Aboard American Sailing Association Certification courses (ASA sailing lessons) and non-certification sailing lessons that are perfect for those individuals, couples, friends or families that have either always wanted to learn to sail, would like to find out if sailing is for them, or would like to increase their sailing skills and confidence. ASA Sailing School Internationally recognized for safety and seamanship, the ASA curriculum, along with our supportive learning environment, knowledgeable staff, and a hands-on approach to instruction will teach you to sail confidently, allowing you to safely skipper or assist as crew on a sailing yacht. Individual Courses • ASA 101 Basic Keelboat – Live-Aboard ASA 101 teaches the beginning sailor the required skills for the safe handling of a moderate sized keelboat along the coast/shore line. Learn basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards. All nights are spent at our marina for 101. Pre-Requisites: None Included: Instructional Materials, Testing & 1 Year ASA Certification Membership • ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising – Live-Aboard ASA 103 teaches the intermediate sailor the required skills to cruise safely as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat in near-coastal waters. Learn cruising sailboat terminology, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather, safety and seamanship. Anchoring at Bird Island or another anchorage for an overnight stay is included to prepare you for life aboard. Pre-Requisites: ASA 101 Included: Instructional Materials & Testing, Meals while Onboard • ASA 104 Bareboat Cruising – Live-Aboard ASA 104 teaches the intermediate sailor the required skills to cruise safely as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat during a multi-day cruise upon inland/coastal waters in moderate/heavy winds and sea conditions. Learn about provisioning, boat systems, auxiliary engines, advanced sail trim, coastal navigation, anchoring / mooring, docking, emergency operations, weather, and more. A 25 to 30 mile ocean sail to Bald Head Island, NC for an overnight stay is included to prepare you for life aboard. Pre-Requisites: ASA 103 Included: Instructional Materials & Testing, Meals while Onboard ASA 101 or 103 Course Challenge - 1 Day Course American Sailing Association Certification Course For those with sailing experience, we offer a one day written and on-the-water test. • ASA101 Challenge - Pre-Requisites: None • ASA103 Challenge - Pre-Requisites: ASA 101 Included: Instructional Materials & Testing, Meals while Onboard Non Certification Courses • Non Certification Lesson No tests. No certifications. Only private, informal sailing lessons focusing on your area(s) of need. Pre-Requisites: None • Introduction to Sailing "Is sailing for me?" If you have ever asked yourself this then keep reading! Our Introduction to Sailing class is perfect for those that have either never been sailing and want to see what it is about, or have tried sailing, liked it, and would like to learn a little more. Hop on board with your instructor, cruise thru the Intracoastal Waterway and out into the Atlantic Ocean. Sail 3 miles offshore rounding a "fishing-buoy", then kick back and relax while eating lunch on the return trip to the inlet. Included: Lunch & Non-Alcoholic Beverages • Student/Instructor Practice Created to allow ASA students to develop their sailing skills and increase their time on the water at a reduced all-day rate. Hop aboard with your Instructor and use this time to work on your sailing skills or just go for a daysail with family and friends. What to bring? Lunch, sunscreen and anything else you feel you may need. What To Expect Onboard: Island Song is a 32′ Morgan 321 with the perfect blend of ease of handling and good performance to allow for straightforward and uncomplicated learning. A wide boat for her length allows for increased interior accommodations and is typical of the type, size, and affordability most new sailors/sailboat owners would purchase as a first or second boat. We invite you to come aboard and join us for cruising the most scenic waters in the Myrtle Beach area. While on your sailing adventure you will get to experience motoring through the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway, setting sail in the calm, protected waters of Little River Inlet, then continuing your voyage into the Atlantic Ocean. Take a turn at the helm steering the boat or just sit back and relax...it is up to you. Each charter is private and, depending on your adventure, can accommodate up to 6 guests. Complimentary chips, crackers, sodas, bottled waters and ice are available and you may bring your own food, beverages and adult beverages. Catered meals are also available.
