Guided Fly Fishing Trip in South Island of New Zealand

Lets go fly fishing and have a great time on the water of South Island of New Zealand together! Book Guided Fly Fishing with experienced guide. Rates as low as $650 NZD per person for half-day trip. Rates: • Half Day Trip: $600 NZD for one angler, $650 NZD for two anglers • Full Day Trip: $800 NZD for one angler, $850 NZD for two anglers What You Can Expect: Half-Day Trip I will give you a fantastic introduction to fly fishing NZ if you are on a tight time schedule! You will be picked up by 4WD vehicle from your accommodation, or met on route to the river, and taken to a local waterway for a fun morning of guided fly fishing. I will normally have you back at your accommodation around lunchtime (lunch not included in half-day). Afternoons are available too, please contact me for details. Full-Day Trip I will pick you up in or near Dunedin by 4WD vehicle, or at a prearranged location (Queenstown, Lumsden etc) if you are located further afield. Travel time to our chosen water for the day varies from 30 - 120 minutes depending on time of year, weather, and water conditions. Approx 8 hours fishing time, then returned to your destination in the evening. Like on any trip option full professional guidance, instruction (if needed), and care is provided for you. Additional Information  The weather can be highly changeable at any time in NZ, particularly the South, sometimes we can experience all 4 seasons in one day! I recommend you bring a quality waterproof & windproof rain jacket (dull colours in all fishing clothing if possible) , sun hat, and enough warm layers for the day. A small backpack is useful to bring along for this and other personal items. For most of the season in NZ we 'wet wade' in either quick-drying pants or pollyprop thermals and shorts. Good footwear is important to bring – sturdy boots (they will get wet!). I have a limited range of neoprene wading socks (keeps your feet warm while wet wading), waders and/ or wading boots available for hire at $50 per angler per day, if wanted - please let me know in advance. If you wish to bring along your own fishing gear that is ok – I recommend a 9ft 6 weight, med-fast action fly rod, and a WF6 floating fly line. Polaroid sunglasses are a must for sight fishing to see into the water, and for your safety, which I can supply if you don’t have any. Please remember felt soled wading boots are banned in New Zealand so bring rubber soled ones only. The trout fishing season opens October 1st and closes on April 30th for most rivers in the South. We still have some great waters open in May, so please take advantage of this! December to March is peak season down here for visiting anglers, however great fly fishing is available for you right throughout the season. Outstanding dry fly, nymph, and streamer fishing are experienced all season in the New Zealand fishery, with hatches and patterns changing month to month. Our techniques will vary depending on time of year, weather patterns, and type of water we are on. We have a winter season too, June – September. Primarily for the lakes, and some rivers, so this gives us a season that never ends and many opportunities for you. I guide year - round, get in touch for winter specials! If you have any questions, we can answer those through GetMyBoat’s messaging platform before you pay. Just hit, “Request to Book” and send us an inquiry for a custom offer.

Additional Terms & Information

Other Information  • 4WD pick up and transport from accommodation or airport depending on where you are staying, and how long you would like your fly fishing trip to be. Sometimes we can meet at a predetermined location to make it easier for both you and myself, and to maximise our fishing opportunities. Transport to the river can be anywhere from 30 – 120 minutes depending on the time of year, weather and water conditions etc. Full-day trips will be approx 8 hours on the water, and half days you will be back at your accommodation by lunchtime (afternoons available as well). A packed lunch (healthy, usually homemade), snacks, and bottled water are provided to you (no lunch for half-day trips) as well as quality rods, reels, custom tied NZ flies, leaders etc for you to use on the day. I prefer to do all the digital photography myself during the course of the day, and these images will be sent to you after the trip, asap. • If you cancel within 30 days of your trip a further 30% will be charged. Please be aware cancellations put a big strain on small owner-operator businesses like this. Where the client cuts short or cancels a guided fly fishing trip once is has started, the trip must be paid for in full for the dates booked. • I have reserved the right to cancel or postpone the trip if I believe severe weather conditions or any situation is hazardous for us. Your safety is my number one priority. In this unlikely event, I will endeavour to reschedule your trip to meet your needs. If not, due to 'mother nature' a full refund will, of course, be given. If you are the hazard due to misinformation, alcohol, drugs, heavy medication, not following safety instructions, no refund will be given. • We promote catch and release. • Rates do not include additional heli fees (if wanted) or freshwater fishing licence fees - please visit fish and game website and please buy this before the day of your trip. They are $34 NZD per day. Please also get a backcountry endorsement (free) online after you purchase your licence so we have the ability to fish these waters, if you want full backcountry access. However, this backcountry endorsement is only available with a full season non-resident licence. A full season non-resident licence is $169 NZD. Any questions about licences please let me know, I am more then happy to help! • Suitable travel insurance is recommended as essential in the event you need to cancel the trip for any reason (injury/ sickness etc). • I hold all the relevant risk management and health and safety plans, insurances, DOC concessions to operate on conservation land, and a current first aid certificate for your peace of mind. The appropriate safety equipment is carried both in my 4WD vehicle and by me on the water for our time together, including a 406 MHZ personal locator beacon registered with Maritime NZ.
