Love Fishing Ireland has a small team of experienced guides available for tailor-made fishing excursions for both wild brown trout and pike. While the standard days guiding on the River Liffey or Rye Water will appeal to many, for the more adventurous, we offer guided trips by Canadian canoe along what are considered to be the best fishing beats of the River Liffey. River Liffey The famous River Liffey is an extraordinarily rich limestone river which flows for most of its course through County Kildare – Irelands Horse County. The Rye Water A tributary of the Liffey, the Rye Water is a classic dry fly stream. It differs from the Liffey somewhat as it is largely spring fed and there are numerous comparisons with the famous Chalkstreams of southern England and Normandy. Like the Liffey, however, there is a great variety of run, riffle, and glide. The Rye Lake This is in truth not a ‘Lake’ but a back up of water caused by the Salmon weir on the grounds of Carton House estate. It is, in essence, a widening and deepening of the Rye Water and offers the superb year-round sport. When in season (March 1st – September 30th) trout fishing can be truly excellent, with a good head of fish in the 3 – 5lb range. Having grown up with the River Liffey quite literally on his doorstep, Robert Love gravitated towards fishing from an early age. An avid fly fisherman and fly tier he is the fishery consultant and head ghillie at one of the Great Fishing Houses of Ireland. Robert is the owner of Love Fishing Ireland. He enjoys sharing his intimate knowledge of the Rye Water and River Liffey systems and finds great satisfaction in a good days fishing for his clients. Robert guides for both novice and experienced anglers alike and has guided for sports stars and other celebrities. In light of his fishing expertise he has also featured on both national radio and television. Robert also holds an Irish Sailing Association instructorship in power boating and provides practical and engaging boat handling and safety courses aimed specifically at anglers. But what perhaps sums Robert up best is his firm belief in the old adage that ‘the Gods do not deduct from mans allotted span the hours spent in fishing’.
